OUR CHICKEN
100% ECC COMPLIANT IN GERMANY
We take responsibility. For higher animal welfare standards in chicken farming.
Our chicken meat comes from farms that meet higher animal welfare standards than those required by German law. The animals are given more space and more time for healthy development. In this way, we strive to promote respectful treatment of animals and natural resources – because true enjoyment starts with responsibility.
PIONEERS IN ANIMAL WELFARE
As early as 2020, we joined the European Chicken Commitment (ECC) initiative and committed to meeting its requirements by 2026. We achieved this goal as early as October 2024: Since then, we have sourced the chicken meat for our European burger restaurants exclusively from suppliers that comply with the ECC requirements.
This makes HANS IM GLÜCK the first company in the chain restaurant sector to have fully converted its chicken meat supply to ECC-compliant products.

“Pioneers such as Hans im Glück prove that a complete transition to MHI-compliant products is possible – and makes economic sense.”

More information about our participation in the Better Chicken Initiative can be found in our self-commitment.
The requirements for ECC-compliant chicken meat include, among other things, slower-growing breeds,
more space in the barn, perches and enrichment materials. Further criteria and information can be found at here.
